Dearest family, friends and fans of Mark Eden. It is with a heavy broken heart that I’m informing you all that in the morning of the 24th of July 2023 my beloved husband, band and soul mate Mark Eden has left this earthly realm after succumbing to his unforgiving illness. All along Mark always somehow managed to make and surround himself with music. His one true passion. May he rest in peace and find his way wherever his journey is taking him now. He will be dearly missed. His musical genius, everlasting kindness and loving spirit will live on forever.

As it can’t get more personal than this I would like to share this beautiful glimpse into his life with you, which for me shows the essence of what Mark was and still is…pure beauty, passion, love, innocence and kindness. It’s a song called “Slowly” that he was about to release.
Enjoy, be kind and lets celebrate his beautiful soul and music.

I’ll make it my mission to keep his legacy alive and will share more of Mark’s footage and tunes with you in the near future. 💜🌻take care – Julia Eden

Latest album ‘THINGS TO BE’

Latest single ‘THINGS TO BE’

My beloved Maton 12-string acoustic guitar has been my main instrument since growing up in Australia. I remember the house parties in our lounge room with my dad playing his 12-string guitar. I guess that is where my passion for playing music found its roots…after hearing ‘Sgt. Pepper’s’ by The Beatles for the first time, my whole world changed and I knew that I wanted to write music from that day on.

I have written over 750 songs over many genres and won 2 international sound awards for experimental films. My music has been played on radio stations like Triple J, RRR etc and my music videos were aired on TV ( MTV, Rage,…). I had heaps of fun touring Australia with my band where I developed my own tribal, folk sound which was really great to dance to and so much fun to play as well. A highlight of the shows was the super cool percussive freestyle jams we had, which could go for ages.

I was invited by Yothu Yindi to film their ‘Community Life’ video at the prestigious Indigenous Garma Festival and ended up supporting them to their home crowd in Northeast Arnhem Land Australia, which was an unforgettable life experience and a great honour.

After releasing two independent albums (‘Melt’ in 1999, ‘No Mind’ in 2001) and touring Australia I decided to do something different so I sold my belongings and moved to Berlin in 2005 to mix my third album. I ended up living in a small artist community in Kreuzberg, the suburb where David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Nick Cave also stayed for a while. There I played house shows with my flatmates in an old warehouse…it was crazy and so much fun! The release party for my third album ‘Meaning I Give’ in 2007 was held in an old Chapel Theatre next to a graveyard in Friedrichshain, which felt pretty unique.

As a side project to cater for my other music tastes, I formed the alternative rock band ‘Under The Tongue’ with my wife Julia in 2008. Since then we have released two albums and won the Akademia award for ‘Best Alternative/ Rock/ Electro Album’ in June 2015 for our album ‘Potions’. A new UTT album is finished and will be released song by song this year (2020).

I wrote, recorded, produced and arranged everything on my new album  ‘Things To Be’. It was mixed by Dan Swift (Snow Patrol, Nick Cave, Aqualung) and mastered by Brian Lucey (Depeche Mode, The Kills, Cage the Elephant). The album is filled with singalong melodies, simple guitar lines, chanting and cool grooves.
